Asparagus, which belongs to the vegetable group, has a variety of health benefits.

It is a food to consider for pregnant women or women who want to become pregnant, due to its richness in folic acid. As well as playing an important role in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, this vitamin also prevents malformations in the baby's neural tube when taken early in pregnancy.

Asparagus is also an excellent source of vitamin K, which is very important for blood clotting. It also contains some B-complex vitamins, such as thiamine, vitamin A and C, and mineral salts, such as potassium, copper and maganese.

The chemical composition of asparagus makes it an important natural diuretic for eliminating excess fluid and sodium. This also helps to treat urinary tract infections.

Whether white, green or purple, asparagus can be boiled or steamed, sautéed or grilled. Hot or cold, they make an ideal combination with meat dishes, fish or in salads.
